Carolyn Richardson

Carolyn grew up watching her dad work as a caricature artist. When she was 10, she would go with him to amusement parks and shopping centers and just watch him draw. She was dazzled by how quick he was with a marker, turning people into fun cartoons – with no pencil! Each line was magical and in only a few minutes, it was done! He would travel all over the country drawing at big fairs and shopping malls.

Carolyn grew up, had 6 kids, and ended up as a single mom. She never considered taking up caricatures as she was too busy raising them and wouldn’t have been able to travel and leave them.

Alex Buie

Alex started drawing caricatures in his early twenties. His grandfather provided a spot in one of the malls he worked, set him up and wished him luck! He did so well, and has been drawing caricatures ever since. At one of his events, they needed several artists. One dropped out, leaving them in a bind. Carolyn offered to help. She remembered watching her dad draw, and figured she could do it! She would just do what he did. What did she have to lose? They needed another artist, and it was worth a try. She did it, and it was a success!

He has been drawing since! and has travelled all over the country drawing thousands of faces. Alex has also traveled to the United Kingdom, Ireland and Scotland, turning people into cartoons.
